LGBT UNTOLD STORIES EXHIBITIONEarlier in 2010 in August I completed my thesis on the homosexual victms of the holocaust starting in 1930s right through til 1969, this was acknowledged by the lesbian and gay foundation in Manchester and the university of manchester and I was asked to research alot further to create an exhibition.
On January 27th 2011 for the holocaust memorial day we held an exhibition in the lesbian and gay foundation showing all the research and images that I have collated together showing how the homosexuals became persecuted by the nazis and later imprisoned in concentration camps. We started in the cabaret era in Berlin from 1919 to 1933 all the way to present day showing the camps, the paragraph 175, the fight to repeal it, christopher isherwood, the fall of the berlin wall and the ongoing holocaust that homosexuals are enduring in other countries,. The Exhibition was a success and is still available at the Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) in Manchester to view. THE HOMO HERO'S AWARDFor the holocaust memorial day of remembrance 2011 (Jan 27th) I set up an exhibition for the LGBT untold stories, It was an exhibition based on my articles and thesis that I wrote about the homosexual victims of the holocaust and the horrible things that were done to them by the Nazis. I wrote a time line that began from 1800s right through to present day telling the story of how the LGBT got our rights in England, America & Germany and how times have changed and the equal status we now have in society from the illegal status we once knew. My Exhibition has been shown in the Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) which is a branch of stonewall in Manchester (north west England) and recently my exhibition was shown at Blackpool Gay Pride in June, I did all the research for 15yrs from I was merely ten years old and I never expected the award that I received from the LGF but on the day they presented me with it I cried, because I had never been given any thing like that before in my life, I won the Homo Heroes Award which is an award given to people who fight and educate those against homophobia and Racism. I have placed a photograph of my award and also my exhibition so that you can see the panels that I created many of these panels you will find as articles on my page such as: Christopher Isherwood, Homosexuals Forgotten Victims, Dr Carl Vaernet, Dr Magnus Hirschfeld. to name a few. Thank you all for visiting :) |
